Maintenance & Operations Supervisor

Varsity View Community Club | Full-Time

Varsity View Community Club is seeking a hands-on, reliable Maintenance & Operations Supervisor to oversee all aspects of facility operations across our indoor rink, outdoor rinks, ball diamonds, soccer fields, Marj Edey Park, and social hall.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and remove indoor and outdoor ice, including logos and lines
  • Perform daily plant checks and ensure ice quality and safety
  • Schedule and supervise indoor rink, outdoor ice, and field staff, ensuring all shifts are covered
  • Maintain ball diamonds, soccer fields, and green space (mowing, lining, dragging, irrigation)
  • Oversee social hall setup and event readiness
  • Ensure both sites are clean, safe, and well-maintained at all times
  • Maintain and oversee all equipment (Zamboni, edger, mowers, tractors, etc.)
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors and trades
  • Conduct inspections, maintain records, manage inventory, and purchase supplies
  • Support tournaments, events, and after-hours activities
  • Lead staff, promote safety, and maintain a positive work environment
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support facility improvements
  • Participate in annual inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Respond to on-call or emergency situations as required

Qualifications

  • Experience in arena or facility operations
  • Knowledge of refrigeration/ice plants (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Experience with outdoor ice and sports field maintenance is an asset
  • Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Refrigeration Operator Certificate Class 5
