OPPORTUNITY:

Title: Tournament Coordinator, Professional Championships
Reports to: Assistant Tournament Director, Professional Championships
Location: Hybrid, Golf Canada Office (Oakville, ON)
Status: Full Time
Target Start Date: January 2026

OVERVIEW:

The Tournament Coordinator, Professional Championships will play an important role in delivering Canada’s two national professional golf championships, the RBC Canadian Open and the CPKC Women’s open. This will include database administration, tournament office coordination, and general email inbox management.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

 Volunteer Program: (60%)

  • Lead staff person for the volunteer management software and database
  • Assist the Manager, Professional Championships with recruiting, training, correspondence, volunteer uniforms and package and other function pertaining to the volunteer team
  • Assist with the Volunteer Appreciation events that will take place to recognize the contributions of all volunteers.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success of the volunteer program
  • Assist with annual review of volunteer committee manuals and resources.
  • Develop new volunteer resources as needed.
  • Coordinate general volunteer email communication including the daily volunteer newsletter during tournament week.

Tournament Office: (15%)

  • Serve as the Tournament Office administrator during tournament weeks, while maintaining core responsibilities. This includes answering phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries.

Other Duties and Events: (25%)

  • Manage the general email inbox and the volunteer inbox for both tournaments, responding to inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Assist in communication with personnel at both the PGA TOUR & LPGA Tour
  • Assist with Pro Am registration and communication to guests.
  • Gather feedback from participants, sponsors, and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in other events and initiatives organized by the RBC Canadian Open and CPKC Women’s Open.
  • Support cross-departmental projects and collaborate with other team members to ensure the overall success of the tournaments.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

  • Post Secondary Degree in Event Management, Sports Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in event planning, community engagement, or a related role.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Knowledge of golf is considered an asset but not required.
  • Passion for sports and community engagement is an asset.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset.

Golf Canada’s regular hours of work are 40 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day and 5 days a week including a one-hour lunch.
