Sports Center IPPON is currently seeking a talented and experienced Judo Coach to join our team to support, train and develop high-performance athletes and prepare the team for national and international competitions.

The candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting training sessions, developing lesson plans, competition strategies, managing logistics during events, and fostering a supportive environment. A successful coach must combine technical expertise with strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to promote growth, respect, and discipline within our club.

Duties

  • Coaching and Training: Teach Judo techniques, principles in a safe and structured environment following Japanese philosophy and its concepts
  • Session Planning: Develop lesson plans and training programs for different age groups and skill levels following Japanese best practises
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure all practice and sparring sessions are conducted safely, prioritizing the well-being of all athletes
  • Athlete Development: Conduct training camps, provide individual feedback and tailor training to help athletes improve their skills and achieve goals and objectives. Identify and recommend required services for athletes- nutrition, mental and physical preparation, physiotherapy to be conducted under professional supervision. Collaborate with head coaches to achieve objectives.
  • Competition Support: Prepare athletes for tournaments and competitions, strategize with them, provide guidance from the sidelines, and help with logistics
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Foster a disciplined, supportive, and engaging environment, instilling values of perseverance, integrity and teamwork
  • Administrative Duties: Maintain information files, process paperwork, and coordinate schedules

Qualifications

  • NCCP Level 2
  • Level: Belt ran Yondan and higher
  • Technical Expertise: Minimum 3 years of general coaching experience or 2 years of coaching experience in Japan and strong understanding of judo techniques, tactics, and philosophies. Proven track record of success in coaching athletes at the international level competitions
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication skills in English and to instruct students and collaborate with others (bilingualism is an asset)
  • Leadership and Motivation: Ability to inspire, lead, and motivate students of all ages and abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Patience and Empathy: Ability to adapt teaching styles to the diverse needs and personalities of students
  • Safety Focus: A strong commitment to athlete safety, including knowledge of first aid
  • Continuous Improvement: A willingness to engage in professional development, learn new techniques, and evaluate coaching methods
  • Travel: Ability to commit to an extensive travel schedule and possess valid Driver’s License
