Position: Sr Manager, Business Intelligence

Reports to: VP, Ticket & Premium Sales & Service

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr Manager, Business Intelligence (BI) will lead Canucks Sports & Entertainment (CSE) into an era of data-driven decisions across the enterprise.  As the leader of the BI team, this role will set data strategy, build trust across CSE’s leadership team, and work tirelessly to bring data-driven insights to all that we do.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set a strategy for using data to drive intelligent decisions and ultimately improve effectiveness and profitability
  • Work with leaders from all CSE departments to understand challenges and ensure adoption of data and analytics across the business
  • Be a key player in strategy development and decisions by identifying, evaluating, and presenting data and analytics and creating actionable insights
  • Build and manage the end-to-end analytics and business intelligence platform for ticket and premium sales, corporate partnerships, marketing, retail, quick service and other departments at CSE
  • Drive data driven business decisions amongst CSE business properties and effectively communicate findings and recommendations with department heads on the revenue team
  • Work with ticket sales and marketing on paid advertising effectiveness through segmentation, messaging, and testing
  • Optimize pricing for each business segment for CSE, inclusive of ticketing, premium, corporate partnerships, retail, food & beverage, etc.
  • Demonstrate quantifiable partnerships value to prospects and current partners
  • Create actionable insights and understandings through the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, building recommendations that directly address organizational goals
  • Manage a team of analysts and data scientists who provide regular and ad hoc analyses to all relevant internal teams
  • Lead full scale analyses to better understand growth trends and business performance
  • Stay up to date with all CSE brand studies and fan sentiment research
  • Work with other team leaders in the development of new revenue streams and A/B testing of various products and sales strategies
  • Coordinate with other NHL Clubs and NHL League staff to ensure access to all relevant data and league trends
  • Hire, lead, mentor, and develop BI staff

REQUIRED Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a BI or analytics role with a professional sports team or league
  • Proven track record of using data and analytics to drive incremental revenue and meet other organizational goals and objectives
  • Proven ability to communicate analytical findings and related strategic recommendations clearly to senior management across different teams and areas of expertise
  • Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills, including exposure to SQL and relational databases
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, including ability to build complex spreadsheet models, run pivots, macros, v-lookups, and other advanced functions
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Ability to deliver both detail-oriented analyses and strategic recommendations
  • Ability to develop analytical approach to issues and questions presented, and to see processes through from issue presentation to strategic recommendation
  • Onsite role at our office in downtown Vancouver
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement statistical models in Python and R is an asset
