WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
Senior HR Generalist
The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in delivering high-quality, hands-on HR support to employees and leaders in our Toronto office. As the primary and stand-alone HR representative on site, this role is responsible for the full spectrum of day-to-day HR operations while ensuring the consistent application of HR programs, policies, and practices across Tennis Canada.
This position offers a unique opportunity to operate with a high degree of autonomy while serving as a trusted advisor to managers on a wide range of employee matters, from recruitment and onboarding to employee relations and performance management. The Senior Human Resources Generalist partners closely with the national HR team to ensure alignment across offices, share best practices, and contribute operational insights that continuously enhance the employee experience.

Operational HR Leadership

Act as a senior HR advisor to managers and directors on a broad range of human resources matters, including organizational development, compensation, job classification, employee relations, discipline, and performance management.

Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters in the Toronto office, providing timely, professional, and solution-oriented support to employees and leaders.

Lead and manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, including permanent, seasonal, and contract positions.

Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and the full employee lifecycle, ensuring a consistent and positive employee experience.

Advise and support managers in handling employee relations matters, exercising sound judgment and escalating complex or sensitive cases as required.

Coordinate and support the performance management process, ensuring timely completion and the delivery of fair, constructive, and development-focused feedback.

Ensure compliance with employment legislation, internal policies, and HR procedures.

Manage HR administration for the Toronto office, including data accuracy, reporting, and documentation.
Advisory & Collaborative Support

Provide coaching and guidance to leaders to strengthen leadership capabilities, support effective people management, and improve team performance.

Guide managers in applying consistent and effective people practices aligned with Tennis Canada’s values and organizational objectives.

Partner closely with the national HR team to ensure alignment between local practices and organization-wide programs and initiatives.

Contribute operational insights and professional expertise to support the continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, and policies.

Participate in national HR projects and committees as required (e.g., engagement, DEI, recognition, wellness).

Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and continuous improvement within the Toronto office.
WHO YOU ARE?
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including at least 5 years in an advisory role, with hands-on exposure across all areas of Human Resources (talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, learning and development, health & safety, and compliance).
- Demonstrated experience in a trusted HR advisory role, with a strong ability to provide strategic and practical counsel to leaders and employees.
- Excellent listening, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to understand complex situations and deliver thoughtful, people-centered solutions.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Proven experience supporting senior leaders on employee relations or talent planning initiatives.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS platforms – ADP is an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset.
- CHRP or CHRL designation preferred but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Full time permanent position
- Hours of work are monday to friday 9am to 5pm
- Hybrid remote office schedule (3 days a week in office)
- Reporting location is the Toronto office
