POSITION SUMMARY:
Golf Canada is seeking a strategic leader to shape our national content and social media direction. This role will guide a talented team and external partners to deliver impactful storytelling that advances Golf Canada’s mission. This position manages a small content and social team, oversees external creative partners, and works collaboratively across Golf Canada’s marketing, communications, and event portfolios to ensure cohesive and impactful digital storytelling.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
1. Strategic Planning & Oversight – 40%
- Lead the development of Golf Canada’s integrated content and social media strategy aligned with organizational goals.
- Build and oversee the annual editorial roadmap, content pillars, and strategic frameworks for key initiatives and championships.
- Oversee execution to ensure consistency of brand voice and storytelling across all owned channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Digital, Championships, Partnerships, etc.) to ensure alignment of content priorities.
- Translate business objectives into actionable, insight-driven content plans, while growing channel following.
- Ensure enhanced bilingualism through content production.
- Develop growth strategies to grow Golf Canada’s audience and engagement.
- Clearly articulate Golf Canada’s channel strategy and expand the reach of Golf Canada. owned media.
- Ensure elevated coverage of Golf Canada’s properties and programs.
2. Team Leadership & Coordination – 25%
- Collaborate with internal and external content producers including writers, designers and videographers.
- Manage a team of two social specialists.
- Provide strategic briefs, creative feedback, and performance direction to ensure output aligns with strategic priorities.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across departments and agency partners.
- Oversee workflow processes to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content and campaigns.
3. Performance Analysis & Optimization – 20%
- Define and monitor KPIs for content performance, engagement, and reach.
- Analyze audience insights, channel metrics, and campaign results to inform future strategies.
- Prepare performance reports and dashboards to guide leadership decision-making.
- Leverage data to continuously optimize Golf Canada’s digital storytelling impact.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Vendor Management – 15%
- Oversee relationships with creative vendors, content partners, and media collaborators.
- Manage influencer partnerships and brand ambassador storytelling opportunities.
- Support marketing and communications alignment through integrated planning sessions.
- Champion content best practices in digital governance, accessibility, and brand compliance.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
- Proven experience leading content strategy, editorial planning, and organic/paid social media programs within a brand, media, or sports organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and external partners, balancing creative direction with business objectives.
- Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience developing and maintaining editorial calendars, governance frameworks, and performance dashboards.
- Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset; able to interpret insights and turn them into actionable plans.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong understanding of brand storytelling.
- Knowledge of digital marketing tools and trends, with a focus on engagement growth and audience development.
- Degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
- Ability to work flexible hours (including occasional evenings/weekends) and travel for events as required.
- Bilingual (English/French) skills are considered an asset
- A strong appreciation for the game of golf and its role in Canadian sport and community.
