Position: Director, Marketing & Brand
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Senior Vice President, Marketing & Live Entertainment

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Marketing & Brand will lead the Marketing department and oversee the planning, development, and execution of all campaigns contained within the corporate marketing plan that support the goals and initiatives of Canucks Sports & Entertainment’s commercial, community, and fan engagement departments.

A typical day includes:

  • Leading the Marketing & Brand department and oversee the day-to-day supervision, growth, and development of all team members including the Fan Insights Team, Marketing Project Management Team, and Performance Marketing Team.
  • Overseeing the Marketing & Brand department budget – optimizing spend through analytics-driven decision making and strategic discipline.
  • Managing the strategy, planning, and execution of corporate annual marketing plan supporting ticket sales, member retention, partnership marketing, corporate partnership, retail, hospitality, and fan engagement departments initiatives.
  • Acting as the lead champion of the digital marketing process and support the Marketing Project Management team in the development and execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Liaising with the Content & Creative teams to develop marketing collateral aligned to campaign goals and overall brand standards.
  • Develop annual brand theme and maintain brand standards throughout all fan touchpoints.
  • Supporting all paid and contra-based marketing relationships with third-party vendors.
  • Working with the Digital team to support the development and management of all CSE digital properties including web, social, and mobile.
  • Supporting the Partnership Marketing team to realize client goals and deliver partnership value by improving the quality, customer experience, and engagement of all activations.
  • Growing our fan base within identified target segments and execute targeted campaigns to improve overall affinity and loyalty.
  • Overseeing the overall ticket strategy and manage the day-to-day planning, execution and reporting on the performance of all marketing platforms (both traditional and digital mediums).
  • Collecting data on all current and prospective ticket buyers to improve, personalize and streamline the communication to all STM and ticket buyers.
  • Enhancing and managing the overall experience of season ticket member online experiences.
  • Proposing new and innovative ideas or find and evaluate third-party vendors that address gaps in the business and integrate these solutions into daily operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized institution in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience in strategic leadership of sales & marketing teams; experience within sports marketing preferred.
  • Experience with digital analytics tools including Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.
  • Excellent people skills, with an ability to work closely and cooperatively with internal and external clients at all levels.
  • Experience leading a team – strategic direction, focusing effort, and driving passion and motivation towards the realization of department goals and objectives.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented individual with outstanding administrative and time management skills.
  • Experience compiling reports and giving presentations to senior executives.
  • Skills driving both highly analytical as well as highly creative ideas to improve overall customer experiences.
