ABOUT US:

Calgary Wild FC is part of the Northen Super League (“NSL”), Canada’s new professional women’s soccer league. We set out to build a team identity that feels distinctly Calgarian, but, like women’s soccer, still feels like it’s pushing towards and focusing on the future.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Calgary Wild FC is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as both Academy Director and Academy Head Coachof its women’s program. This full-time, dual role is responsible for overseeing the club’s Reserve and Academy structures while leading the League1 Alberta senior team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing a high-performance culture, aligning youth development with first team objectives, and building a sustainable talent pipeline for women’s soccer in Alberta.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Academy Director

  • Design and implement a long-term player development strategy for the WILD FC Academy.
  • Oversee recruitment, scouting, and retention of youth talent across Calgary and Alberta.
  • Maintain or actively build a working knowledge of elite female players provincially through participation in league events, competitions, and scouting initiatives.
  • Manage academy staff including coaches, performance analysts, and medical personnel.
  • Ensure alignment of playing philosophy, training methodology, and performance standards across all age groups.
  • Monitor player progression and facilitate transitions to the Reserve and 1st Teams.
  • Build relationships with local clubs, provincial and national teams to expand the talent pipeline.
  • Ensure compliance with Canada Soccer and League1 Alberta regulations regarding youth development.

U18 & U23 Head Coach

  • Lead all aspects of U18 | U23 team training, match preparation, and in-game coaching for the WILD FC League1 Alberta team, including travel where required.
  • Develop and execute tactical plans that reflect the club’s playing philosophy.
  • Collaborate with performance staff on player fitness, recovery, and injury prevention.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and individual development plans for targeted players.
  • Represent the club in media, community, and league engagements.
  • Work closely with the Sporting Director and 1st Team staff on roster decisions, player signings, and contract renewals.
  • Leverage an existing network—or demonstrate the ability to build one—within NCAA and USPORTS programs to recruit post-secondary talent for the WILD FC League1 team.

First Team Assistant Coach

  • Provide (non-travelling) opposition analysis to the first team in advance of MD-1 to inform pre-match strategy and tactical preparations;
  • Provide non travelling first team players with technical and tactical training focused on their IDPs while the rest of the squad are traveling.
  • Participate in 1st team staff, technical leadership and planning meetings as required.
  • Manage the transition of high potential U18s and U23s into the first team training environment, ensuring a holistic approach to their development.
  • Attend first team practice when appropriate to support with IDP coaching of individuals and small groups.
  • Oversee the Youth Permit players schedules to ensure they get holistic support; maintaining both training load and match availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • UEFA A License or Canada Soccer A License (UEFA Pro or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of coaching experience, including at the professional or elite youth level.
  • Proven track record of player development and team success.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Deep understanding of the Canadian women’s soccer landscape and its developmental needs.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams (technical, medical, performance).
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment for female athletes.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
